018 ~ [Action]

[The Malnosso weren't known for their kindness, and perhaps that's why Ion was returned to the village so far from House One. He was tired and all he wanted to do was curl up somewhere and sleep... which was something he was now very capable of doing seeing as he's been transformed into a soadoptable. Those little paws of his can only walk so fast, but he manages to make it halfway to House One from the plaza before he has to stop and rest. Finding a nice soft spot of grass to lay in, he curls up and sighs, hoping he doesn't fall asleep before he can make it back home...]

[Of course, assuming he does make it back to House One safe and sound, those living there can expect to hear tiny scratches and meowing at the door... and possibly a few windows if no one hears him.]


[[ooc: ION IS NOW A KITTEN. But he won't be forever! "Green" will turn him back to normal though with a pair of cat ears and a tail because I can, but saying "Ion" will make him go right back to being a kitten. And it won't quite be an instant transformation either, so figuring out what made him change should prove to be a bit difficult. He still has a tiny pair of green wings too, but the longer his identity stays a secret, the more fun it'll be. :'D]]

[Yep, this message is much clearer. But anything would be clear compared to going to Ion's room and expecting Anise to know you're Ion. Still, she might as well make sure.] You're hungry, right? [Even as she's speaking, she's going to the cupboards already.]

[It seemed like a good idea at the time! But this time was much simpler, and he nods and meows in response.]

[Much unlike a real hungry kitten, he's just going to find a spot on the floor to sit and wait patiently and silently. Of course, he's also pretty tired from walking the whole way here, and might start dozing off a little... while still trying to sit up and stay awake. [Ion stop being so adorable jgusdhfsdf. Seeing that he's so tired, Anise works quickly and grabs a can of tuna from the cupboard, dumping some of it into a dish. She puts it down in front of Ion and goes back to pour some milk into a saucer.]

[Wh-why does this smell like the best thing he's ever smelled in his whole life?]

[After what amounts to only a few seconds of staring, Ion digs right in to that plate. He hadn't had anything to eat all day, and nothing but nasty, crunchy cat food during his last week with the Malnosso... he was starving!]

Whoa, Ion, slow down! Don't choke, okay? [Despite her words, Anise is smiling as she sets the saucer of milk down.]

[Ion pauses eating long enough to glance up at Anise and meow in understanding, continuing at a slower pace. He can't really help before so hungry though!]

[Once the tuna's all gone, he moves on to the milk. He tries to be careful, but he'll still manage to get some on his face and whiskers. Cats drink weird, okay.]

[Once Anise sees how Ion got his fur dirty, she goes to fetch a towel, before hesitating and feeling horribly awkward.] Um, do you want me to clean you up?

[Don't worry Anise, you are far from the only one feeling awkward here. For a cat, Ion is still able to be rather expressive... he crouches down a little and nods sheepishly, with even his ears and tail staying low. The only think missing from his obvious embarrassment is a blush, which would be hidden by his fur anyway if cats were capable of such a thing.]

[U-ugh, aren't cats supposed to be able to clean themselves up? Oh well. Anise quickly wipes Ion's face, feeling rather self-conscious. She steps back as soon as possible and goes to wash the towel.]

[That would make sense if he was a real cat, but he's not. Cat's don't even have thumbs! He nods in thanks when Anise is done, but stays low to the ground.]

[And though he may not answer her question directly, once Anise is done washing the towel she'll find Ion has fallen asleep right there on the ground. Adorable appearance aside, he did just get back from spending almost month with the Malnosso. That's not exactly a pleasant experience...]

[But the floor is no place for a tiny kitten. Especially not a kitten who is actually a Fon Master. And unfortunately for Anise, he's out like a light.]

[Oh...Okay. Well, yeah, Ion had looked pretty tired. This isn't unexpected. It's just pretty awkward. She couldn't just leave him on the floor, and she's not cruel enough to wake him up! Anise scratches him behind the ears to make sure he's deeply asleep. Yep. Definitely out like a light.]

[This is so embarrassing...Anise picks him up gently with both hands and cradles him against her chest, before walking to her room.]

[Wait, her room?! She should probably go to Ion's room, but he looks so helpless like this. What if the Malnosso break into his room again? She wants to keep him in her sights, at least until they figure out how to turn him back to normal again.]

[Well, whatever. A bed's a bed. Anise gently lays Ion down on her pillow and covers him up with a blanket, before grabbing a book and sitting down on the other end of the bed to read for awhile.]

[Ion's just going to go ahead and sleep for the next hour or two. His sleep is restful at first, but eventually he'll start shivering and shifting a bit. Even kitties can have bad dreams, and it's during a particularly terrible one that he suddenly wakes up and suddenly tries to jump to his feet.]

[Unfortunately, his shifting had pulled the blanket up over his head, and now he's waking up from a nightmare only to discover darkness. It probably doesn't help that he was very much human in that dream and was not expecting to wake up with cat limbs.]

[Which naturally means more flailing is necessary and he's probably going to just roll off the bed if Anise doesn't intervene in time. Derp.]

[Oh sfuhsdufhsd catch catch catch! Anise drops her book and dives forward, managing to grab Ion right before he toppled off the edge of the bed. She miiight be holding you too tightly though, and you're still trapped inside the blanket. Oops.]

[Anise, this is so not helping him calm down. He flails once more in the blanket before going absolutely still BECAUSE YOU BROKE THE CAT, as if hoping everything will just disappear if he closes his eyes and pretends to be asleep again.]

[When Anise pulls the blanket away, she'll see he has his paws over his face and his eyes shut. His fur even fluffed up a bit and he's shivering. Worst way to wake up. Seriously.]

[She doesn't have much experience with animals okay. Quickly setting Ion down on the bed and unwrapping him from the blanket. She sits down next to him and pulls him onto her lap, stroking him gently.]

It's okay, Ion. Don't be scared!

[He looks up at Anise and meows when she speaks, though his wings are still twitching a bit with agitation. Nightmares are bad enough normally; having them appear to continue after you wake up it just not cool.]

[...but he'll calm down soon enough, and even start to purr a little. Maybe this wasn't so bad...]

[Shhh, shhh, everything's fine. Anise continues to pet him, slow and rhythmic, encouraged by his purring.]

I'll find some way to get you back to normal. I promise.

[Anise, this is why you're his favorite. He thanks her, but given his current state and temperament, it comes out as a sort of chirp. If he could at least talk, this wouldn't be so frustrating...!]

[But at least he's getting pets now. And though it may have been short, the nap was enough to help him be more awake now. Which is good, because falling asleep on Anise's lap just... didn't seem right...]

[He chirps again and nods. He'd feel a little silly trying to read on his own when he's so small.]

[...though it should be noted, seeing as the Malnosso have placed some cat-instincts in him, that if Anise's room has anything shiny, he'll very quickly become distracted by it. So he'll be just as spacey as he usually is, right?]

Wait here, okay? I'll go grab a book and be back really quick! [Anise gives Ion one last pat and puts him down gently on the bed, before sprinting towards his room. A quick look around showed a book on his desk. It doesn't look like a history book or boring stuff like that, so Anise grabs it and hurries back into her own room.]

I got this from your room, Ion! [She shows him the cover.] It's called 'Tender is the Storm'. [Just in case he can't read in his cat form.]

[Oh, Ion likes that one! He'd been reading it before he was kidnapped... though he should probably reread it now, seeing as he's been gone for a month and the story isn't exactly fresh in his mind. Where did he leave off last, anyway...? He can't recall.]

[Eh, it's not important. He meows and curls up on the bed to listen, though Anise is more than free to scoop him back up and hold him in her lap and she wants. It would just seem too forward to do so himself.]

Mmm? Oh hey, there's a bookmark! [She does want to keep stroking Ion, since his fur is so warm and soft and she feels more confident that he's back when she can actually touch him, but actually picking him up like that might be overstepping her bounds.]

I'll just start reading from this page then, okay? [She kind of wants to start from the beginning so she could follow along with the plot, but she's doing this for Ion, after all. She clears her throat and begins to read, stumbling over words every once in awhile.]

"Your courage has always moved me," said Dena, smiling as Ser Aldwin took her hand and led her to a more private place. "I'm glad to see you are as fearless here as you are in everything else."

[Perhaps it's a reflection of his true age, but even after reading quite a few romance novels (they were always scattered throughout the Historical Fiction section...) he has no idea what this scene is leading up to.]
