[It was late last night when Ion was taken from the village, and it had been done so quietly it might have been impossible to know he was gone if his bedding hadn't been thrown around the room.]

[But he wasn't gone for very long, as it's less than a day later that Ion returns to the village sometime in the early evening. At a glance, he might just be mistaken for another new feather: he's sitting on the ground near the plaza, wearing those same white new feather pants with a somewhat confused look on his face. But to those who know him well, they might also notice his hair looks a few inches shorter than usual.]

[He isn't doing much, likely because he doesn't know what he should do. What does one do after they've just been born? Should someone walk by, he'll turn his head to stare at them, but he won't say anything.]



(( ooc: Since I've wanted to do this since forever and finally have the time: Ion is going to be de-aged (from 15~ to 12) for a little while! Although Ion has technically gone back to being a "newborn", Fon Master replicas were born with most of their basic functions rather than as a blank slate, so he'll eventually be able to talk and walk once he realizes what those functions are. He'll start out a little slow, but he's a very quick learner! Just don't expect him to know what anything is at first. |Db ))

[So Ion has indeed forgotten him. And he speech pattern... why did he seem so unsure of his words? And even his motions seemed a little unsteady, like someone with very little practice in the matter.

So this means... No, certainly not.] My name is Jade. I am an old... acquaintance of Dist. [Realizing just what he'd said, Jade quickly simplified his sentence.] I know Dist.

[Although he hated using that little piece of information, if his suspicions were correct, Dist would be one of the few people that Ion would know at this point in time. Therefore, it would be much easier to regain his trust if he was associated with someone else that Ion knew. Plus, Jade wasn't entirely certain if Nephry had even been home today.]

Who doesn't?

Ju... Jade. [He repeats the name and commits it to memory, taking in the rest of the information as well and processing it. Jade knows Dist. Jade is an acquaintance of Dist. An old acquaintance. Jade has known Dist for a long time.]

[He takes another few steps towards Jade, his next words slightly more unsure. He's saying them for the first time.]

Do you... know Nephry?

Yes. That's correct. [The rate at which he learned was extraordinary. If only Jade was able to see his thought processes... But as it was, Jade still wasn't quite entirely sure what had happened to Ion. If his memory was simply modified, or if he was indeed 'reset'.]

Yes, I know Nephry as well. She is my sister.

...YES.

[When he answers that Ion is correct, a small smile crosses his face. Jade. Jade knows Nephry. Nephry is Jade's sister.]

[If Jade has any doubts as to whether Ion has simply forgotten him or has once more become a newborn replica, his next question might make that a bit more clear:]

What is a "sister"?

She and I share the same parents. That makes her my 'sister' and I her 'brother'. It means that we're similar genetically. We were also raised together, although you don't have to be either to be someone's sibling--someone's 'brother' or 'sister'--it's the common assumption.

Do you understand? [He hopes you do. It's an oddly complicated answer for a simple idea, and he's not going to go through the trouble of explaining it a second time.]

[And he did! Somewhat. He understood that Jade and Nephry were brother and sister, that siblings are brother and sister, that they were raised together and had the same "parents" and they were similar "genetically"...]

So Ion... tell me. Do you know how 'old' you are? [He probably had no idea, but even so, it couldn't hurt to ask.]

["How old" would meant how long has he been "old," right? Old, in this sense, meaning alive. Which is something Ion didn't really understand, no. When he woke up, had be just been born? That was less than a few hours ago...]

[He actually frowns just a little. Trying to make sense of that felt strange.]

No matter. [He appeared to be stable enough for the moment, that was what was important. Surely Dist had at least done an examination, or Nephry would've requested one. But then again, he wasn't comfortable leaving that sort of thing up to chance... Or rather, in Dist's hands alone. Perhaps Ion could tell him...]

Did you, Dist and Nephry do anything interesting?

Interesting... [He knows what that means, he just needs to narrow down what was interesting about today. Everything was, really. But specifically?]

[Once he thinks of it, he smiles. It's probably one of his most genuine ones today.]

Dist was working. And Nephry gave me food.
