014 ~ [Action]

[It was late last night when Ion was taken from the village, and it had been done so quietly it might have been impossible to know he was gone if his bedding hadn't been thrown around the room.]

[But he wasn't gone for very long, as it's less than a day later that Ion returns to the village sometime in the early evening. At a glance, he might just be mistaken for another new feather: he's sitting on the ground near the plaza, wearing those same white new feather pants with a somewhat confused look on his face. But to those who know him well, they might also notice his hair looks a few inches shorter than usual.]

[He isn't doing much, likely because he doesn't know what he should do. What does one do after they've just been born? Should someone walk by, he'll turn his head to stare at them, but he won't say anything.]



(( ooc: Since I've wanted to do this since forever and finally have the time: Ion is going to be de-aged (from 15~ to 12) for a little while! Although Ion has technically gone back to being a "newborn", Fon Master replicas were born with most of their basic functions rather than as a blank slate, so he'll eventually be able to talk and walk once he realizes what those functions are. He'll start out a little slow, but he's a very quick learner! Just don't expect him to know what anything is at first. |Db ))

[He...he really was like a newborn, but that's okay! Yui is always willing to help others]

It's called a donut. It's a type of food that you eat. [She takes out a glazed one] Like this. [And she takes a bite out of her own to demonstrate.]

[And then she broke it.]



[...or not? He looks down at the donut she had offered to him and, hesitantly, mimics her action and takes a bite.]

[Chewing, swallowing, more things that had been programmed into him that wouldn't have come naturally otherwise. It only takes the first bite to get the hang of it and for him to realize he was hungry. He's never eaten before!]

[And with that, it only takes a few seconds for him to quickly devour the rest of it, making a mess on his face in the process.]

[Yui can't help but smile and laugh a little at Ion eating the donut.]

Hehe. I guessed right. You were hungry! [She pulls out a napkin and with her motherly instinct, she went to wipe the mess off his face with a napkin.]

I should get you something better than a donut though. Are you still hungry?

[distressedude]

[Ion lets her wipe his face without protest, but he's definitely still rather hungry. And now that he knows what that means, he answers without much hesitation.]

Still hungry.

[bigsiskonagi]

[She nods. And starts to rummage through her bag. He needed something more filling than a sugary donut. Oh!]

Aha! [She pulls out a meat pastry. This will definitely do.] Here you go, this should fill you right up. At least...until we find you someplace to stay. [She offers the pastry to him.]

I guess you can't tell me if you know someone here...?

[distressedude]

[When he takes the second pastry and takes a bite, for a moment there's a look of surprise on his face. The taste was so different...! He hadn't expected it. Still not unpleasant, but not nearly as sweet. He eats this one a bit more slowly.]

Someone... here? [He wasn't even sure where "here" was.]

Mm...well, it was a worth a shot. Although that reminds me.

[She presses a hand on her own chest, facing Ion.] I'm Yui Kōnagi. Do you have a name I can call you by?

[distressedude]

[Yui Kōnagi. He assigns that to memory and then tries to make sense of her next question.]

A name... [He stares for a minute or two, bringing his hand to his chest in the same fashion she had done moments before.] ...what is "a name"?

It's...a name is something special. It's something that was given to you and belongs only to you that you can share with others. That way, everyone knows who you are. [She points to herself again.]

I'm Yui. That's what you call me. [She points to him.] What do you want me to call you?

[distressedude]

[So everyone knows who he is? He doesn't even know who he is! A name must be important... but he doesn't have one.]

[His expression falls.] I don't know.

[bigsiskonagi]

[She frowns, but only for a moment. She holds his hand, reassuringly.] Maybe you just forgot and you'll remember it later. Everyone's born with a name, so I know you have one too.

[...then an idea popped into her head.] Maybe you can give yourself a name until you remember! Something that describes you...hm, like how your hair is so green and you're young...maybe Haru? It means springtime, when new life is born and all the leaves in the trees turn green again after a cold winter.

[distressedude]

[He didn't follow her explanation of "springtime" very well, but he did manage to catch the name.]

Ha... ru. Haru? [Slowly, the frown on his face melts away into a tiny smile. He brings his hand to his chest again, as Yui had done before, and says with a stronger voice:] I'm Haru!

[bigsiskonagi]

Hehe. It's very nice to meet you, Haru. [She smiles. She hopes the child will remember who he is one day.]

[distressedude]

[Someone will tell him his real name eventually, and then he'll just get confused. Carefully, he echoes her words, something in his mind telling him this is what he should do.]
