[It's been a few days and Ion has certainly realized there was an experiment going on... after all, that was clearly the only explanation for the unending marquee of text that was constantly streaming above his head. It didn't take much longer than that to realize that his every thought was going to be projected to anyone who saw him! He couldn't help but feel thankful that there wasn't much he needed to keep secret.

But, experiment or not, it was far too nice a day to spend inside! And so the young Fon Master decided to take a chance and go out for a walk. He doesn't seem to be heading anywhere in particular as he leisurely walks along the paths throughout the village. And if you look long enough, you may manage to get a small glimpse of what he's thinking about.]

{ ...it's really getting warmer these days I'm glad I like it when it's warm since I don't do so well in cold oh maybe I should invest in a thicker robe for next winter but I really like this one... }

[Emil spots Ion from his front steps and blinks as he reads the other boy's thoughts.]

... you really think it's warm out?

[Says the kid in the sweatshirt.]

[Ion pauses and looks back at Emil for a moment before remembering, oh right, his thoughts were floating above his head!]

Ah, I suppose I meant compared to the weather earlier this month. { If I'm going to let my mind wander I really should pay more attention to what I'm thinking about although I shouldn't let my mind wander at all if I'm having a conversation that would be impolite oh look it's happening right now... }

[And Emil thought he was bad sometimes when it came to letting his thoughts wander.]

... this experiment is really weird.

It really is, but I'm just glad it's not something worse...

{ The last thing Luceti needs is more people disappearing or dying when I'm sure the past few weeks have already been so tough on the people here... }

It looks like it, but I'm not getting my hopes up just yet. I can only think of one or two experiments that haven't affected me the entire time I've been here.

{ Oh I wonder if he's been here very long then things must have been rough for him and everyone affected by these exper... } [The text appears to grow faint as Ion vainly tries to silence his thoughts.] { ...iments... }

At least you've gotten a break this time around? I can't say I've had much experience with them, myself. This is the first one I've been here for.

[It wasn't a vocal question (or even exactly a question at all), but Emil will answer it anyway.]

Almost two years now, but it's okay-- I've gotten used to it. The experiments don't even bother me that much anymore.

Two years... { That's a long time the same amount of time Luke said he had been here before he was sent home... } [The presence of the sad thoughts don't reflect at all on the Fon Master's expression.]

I'm glad to hear you've grown used to them. If they were even more disruptive I could see how that would make life here rather hectic.

[However, the sight of the thought about Luke does cause Emil's face to fall somewhat. So this person was a friend of his...]

Y-yeah.

... um, you knew Luke too? I mean, I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but I saw it in your thoughts, and--

[He shakes his head.] It's not rude at all.

...Luke was a dear friend of mine back in Auldrant. He was one of the last people I saw before arriving here... so he was a friend of yours as well?

[The bubble overhead is just repeating his every spoken word. He's either focused on the conversation, or trying to keep certain things from coming up.]

[Emil nods.]

He was one of my best friends here. But if anyone deserved to go home, it was him... he was here for such a long time, and after Tear was sent back, he always seemed kind of sad.

I heard about Tear when I arrived here. As much as I miss seeing him, I'm glad he got to return home to her.

You won't be able to see him again either...?

Not unless he ever comes back... I died before I arrived here.

It's alright, really. There is no need to apologize. I had already accepted my death in Auldrant. { Luceti came as a pleasant surprise in comparison, experiments or no... }

But you shouldn't have had to accept it at all. You shouldn't have had to die.

...thank you. That's very kind of you to say. But it's easier to just accept it, now that it's happened, isn't it? { Regretting it wouldn't change anything even if I did regret it but I don't it was to help them even if only a little and I can accept it at that... }

Don't you want to find some way to change it? If people can be brought here from different points in time, that means we can go back to different times in our world, right? There might be a way to stop it from happening...

If there was a way to change things, perhaps... { Whether there is or is not doesn't matter if I spent too much time obsessing over my death when I should be enjoying the life I have here now for as long as I may stay here things will be okay they are okay for now... }

Ah, I'm sorry. This is a rather dark conversation, isn't it...
